Questions

When does it open?

2026, in the deregulated parts of Texas — the areas served by Oncor, CenterPoint, TNMP, AEP Texas and Lubbock Power & Light. If your utility is a co-op or a city-owned utility, you don't shop for a provider and watt marshal can't help yet.

How is watt marshal paid?

By you, once, for one report. We take no commission, referral fee or placement money from any electricity provider, which is what keeps the ranking honest.

Is the estimate a quote?

No. It's what each plan's published rates would have cost on your twelve months of usage, on the date we priced it. Your next year's bill depends on your next year's usage. What we promise is that every number is traceable to the document it came from.

Which plans aren't included?

Variable-rate, time-of-use and prepaid plans. We can't produce a reliable estimate for them from published documents — a limit of the data, not a judgment of those plans.
