What we sell
One product: a report that ranks fixed-rate electricity plans sold in your part of Texas by what they would have cost on twelve months of usage: the months you type in, or a typical year for a household your size. Every plan is calculated from the provider's own Electricity Facts Label and the delivery utility's filed tariff; the report names both and links the label where the provider publishes one.
You pay once, for that report. Nothing recurs unless we say so at the time and you agree to it separately.
How you pay
Payments are not open yet. When they are, you will pay on a page hosted by Stripe, which sells the report to you as the seller of record and adds any sales tax that applies at checkout. The total you pay, tax included, is shown before you pay. What we will and will not refund is in the Refund Policy.
What the report is not
It is an estimate, not a quote. Nobody is bound by it — not us, not the provider. The provider sets the price and the contract; we calculate what their published rates come to on your usage.
It is not financial advice, and it is not a guarantee that you will pay less. We do not know what you will actually use next year, and what a plan costs depends on that. Every figure is arithmetic on published rates as of the date printed on the report, and assumes you enroll in auto-pay and paperless billing where a plan's price depends on that.
We do not rank every plan. Variable-rate, time-of-use and prepaid plans are left out because we cannot estimate their annual cost reliably from monthly totals. That is a limit of our method, not a judgment on those plans, and the report says so where it applies.
We have no relationship with any provider
We take no commission, no placement fee, no referral payment and no advertising money from any retail electricity provider, and we hold no financial interest in one. Nothing about which plan you choose, or whether you switch at all, changes what we earn.
You are the customer. That is the whole business model, and it is what lets the ranking say what it says. If it ever changed, this page would say so before the ranking did.
Your account, and what you tell us
You are responsible for what you enter and for keeping your sign-in details to yourself. If the usage figures, ZIP code or meter number you give us are wrong, the report will be wrong in the same direction, and we cannot detect that for you.
Please do not scrape, resell or redistribute our output, and do not try to reach parts of the service you have not paid for. Your report is for you.
A report is fixed once it is delivered
Providers reprice plans and withdraw them, sometimes within days. A report you have bought is a record of what we calculated on the day it was issued, and it does not update afterwards. Where the provider publishes one, each row links to the Electricity Facts Label we priced it from — open it and confirm the charges before you enroll in anything. Where a provider published no label, the report says so on that row.
Limits on our liability
We provide the service as it is. To the fullest extent Texas law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability to you on any claim is limited to what you paid for the report that claim concerns.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for fraud.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, and any dispute belongs in the state or federal courts sitting in Texas. Watt Marshal LLC is a Texas limited liability company.
Changes, and how to reach us
If we change these terms we will change the date at the top of this page. A change never applies backwards to a report you have already bought.
